Dr. Mehta was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society while in medical school. A native of Michigan, he practiced in Chicago for a number of years prior to returning to his home state. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters. He has given several presentations at local and international meetings. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Mehta enjoys traveling and backpacking with his wife, daughter and son. He is an avid U of M fan and tries to attend as many football and basketball games as he can.
